White House Politics

In accordance Senna (2009), political stability in the region is of urgent interest, especially in issues concerning the situation in Colombia, the problem of Chavez, the Bolivarian crisis and coup in Honduras. Both of those issues are for Brazil and for the government of the White House of vital importance and urgent solution, which brings them a certain way in a common destiny, at least in regard to their interests within Latin America. Thus, the consolidation of an alliance between the two countries (leaders in their region), would give the U.S. the advantage of having a strategic partner able to isolate Venezuela and the countries that are anti-imperialist politics of Chavez in South America especially Bolivia. Amazon addresses the importance of the matter here. Moreover, if we take into account the geopolitics of the region and the fact that Colombia has yielded to the interests of the U.S. to establish military bases within its territory, to have Brazil as an ally, would be intrinsically establishing a fence to the interests of the Venezuelan leader within the Southern Cone. In relation to this, Brazil has begun to buy weapons as a defense strategy but, unfortunately for U.S.

Hegemony, Lula seems quite interested in the various international options and seeing beyond what the U.S. can offer, has found most advantageous to diversify their markets and bargain with France the purchase and development of military technology within their country, a situation that involves some departure from the White House. This means both a reconfiguration in the South American country’s foreign policy and a refusal to pressure North thus finding an alternative that will help end dependency.
